WAB Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom
A year long collaboration between four engineers and two designers. The project's main client was a wheelchair user. The client had problems within accessible public restrooms, citing safety and sanitary problems. As a result of his sternum down paralysis, the client had limited abdominal control.
The solution my team realized was a mobile toilet seat. The unit is installed upon a standard toilet. The seat has anterior and side to side supports to allow the user to use the toilet without having to hold themselves up. The seat moves up and down to allow the user an easier and safer transfer from wheelchair to toilet and back.
